HIGHER EDUCATION CASE STUDY
University of Virginia
Charlottesville, VA
The University of Virginia contracted EMG to perform
Facilities Conditions Audits on four of the University's
academic buildings on campus. The purpose of the
assessment was to provide the University with a schedule
of maintenance repairs and upgrades for these facilities.
The assessment involved an evaluation of three medical
wings and an English-literature wing, each with lecture
halls, classrooms and offices.
The EMG assessment team consisted of a multi-disciplined team of professionals
with extensive experience of higher educational facilities. The EMG team
conducted visual assessments of each building to observe the buildings'
systems and components, identify physical deficiencies and formulate recommendations
to remedy the physical deficiencies. Each deficiency was assigned a priority
classification based on the severity of the deficiency, impact on health
and safety and impact on the business processes.
The immediate and five-year deficiencies were entered
into a web-enabled facilities audit database. The project
was completed entirely in electronic format, and was
delivered on-time, and within the University's budget.
