Energy Benchmarking

EMG’s Energy Benchmarking service provides insight into a facility's energy performance and helps identify energy saving opportunities and priorities.

EMG will provide an Energy Benchmark Study to:

• Establish a baseline for energy usage
• Understand the magnitude and feasibility of potential energy savings
• Identify potential areas for energy improvement and recommendations for action
• Provide an Energy Star Rating, if available

EMG will collect and analyze the energy data (found in utility bills) for the property for the past 12-24 months, and review, if available, a prior property condition assessment or applicable engineering study. In addition, EMG will interview a facilities manager with knowledge of the property, notably building systems and components, in order to provide a general overview of the facilities and identify opportunities for energy unit and cost savings.

The property’s energy consumption will be compared to energy consumption from a large, national database of data for similar buildings. The database normalizes factors such as weather (including general regional weather patterns), occupancy, operation hours, and other building specific characteristics. Seasonal trends will be evaluated.
