Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)
EMG’s scope of work and report format may be tailored to meet the
needs of our clients. Our Phase I ESA scope of work can be adapted to
meet either the ASTM E 1527-00 or the ASTM E 1527-05 Standard for
Environmental Assessments and may include additional items such as
testing for asbestos, lead-based paint, radon and water quality.
Components of the Phase I Environmental Site Assessment:
- Survey: a brief scope of the work summary and an explanation
of the sampling approach.
- Project Description: a description of the property,
improvements, utility services and the environmental setting
(topography, geology and hydrogeology)
- Historical Records Review: a review of historic maps, city
directories, title records, local and state regulatory files for
the project and surrounding properties; dating back to the
property's first developed use
- Project Reconnaissance: a description of current operations,
occupants of adjacent facilities and the surrounding area;
potential environmental concerns identified are confirmed with
on-site personnel
